Broadview successfully hosted its third public exhibition (8th December) for the proposed five turbine Starbold wind farm, which is to be located between the villages of Knightcote and Bishop’s Itchington in Warwickshire. The exhibition was held at Knightcote Village Hall and was attended by approximately 110 people.
The exhibition gave residents the opportunity to find out more from the Broadview team about its plans, including recent changes to the proposed layout and access route. Broadview has now confirmed that it plans to submit a planning application for the proposed wind farm to Stratford-on-Avon District Council later this month.
In addition, as part of Broadview’s continued commitment to the community, a trip for local residents to visit Broadview’s operational Low Spinney wind farm in Leicestershire has been arranged for 4th February 2012. Members of the public wishing to attend the event should contact Broadview’s Community Relations Manager via the details provided below.
James Turner-Moore, Project Manager for Broadview Energy, said: “It was great to meet so many members of the local community at the exhibition. We are now very much focussed on drawing the various documents together in order to submit the full wind farm planning application in the coming weeks. We also hope that as many residents as possible will come and join us on the wind farm trip as it will give local residents the opportunity to experience a wind farm first hand.”
Should the Starbold wind farm be approved, the scheme could be constructed and operational within 12 months, with the potential to generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 4,788 households within the region. It would also lead to the displacement of electricity and associated carbon emissions generated by fossil fuelled power stations.
