Broadview Energy, the developer of the proposed Starbold wind farm, near the villages of Knightcote and Bishop’s Itchington, has provided local residents with data collected as part of a noise assessment which will be submitted with a planning application to Stratford-on-Avon Council. This gives local residents the opportunity to independently analyse and verify the data that has been collected and to undertake their own assessment should they so wish.

As part of a much larger environmental assessment of the Starbold site which has looked at a range of issues such as local ecology, transport and archaeology, Broadview commissioned a specialist consultancy to carry out noise surveys at seven properties situated within 1km of the proposed wind farm. The noise surveys, following best practice methodology, were conducted over a 13 week period earlier this year and involved taking measurements of the existing noise in the area at residential properties surrounding the site. The data enables Broadviews independent consultants to assess the likely noise effects of the wind farm, should it become operational. The survey was conducted in accordance with local and national planning guidelines, standard industry practice and in consultation with Stratford-on-Avon Council’s Environmental Health Department.

Olly Buck, Project Manager for Broadview Energy, said: “Local residents outlined a number of concerns relating to noise at our first public exhibition back in September last year and in subsequent correspondence. The noise survey is one of a series of technical studies that we have carried out over the past few months to satisfy ourselves and, in due course, the local council, that this site is suitable for a wind farm of 5 turbines. The noise survey has been carried out by experts, and to help alleviate residents' concerns we are happy to provide our data in the event that they wish to commission an independent third party to review the data that has been collected; it was a commitment that we made when we started the work.”

On Monday July 12th, Broadview will be hosting another public exhibition about its plans for the wind farm. It takes place at Knightcote Village Hall between 4.00pm and 8.00pm.
