< Back to all project news 13 Jul 2010 - Starbold Broadview Energy meets local residents at Knightcote
Yesterday (Monday 12th July), Broadview Energy hosted its second public exhibition about its plans for a small wind farm, known as Starbold. The proposed wind farm consists of five turbines to be sited on land near the villages of Knightcote and Bishop's Itchington. The exhibition which was held in the Knightcote Village Hall was attended by around 120 people.
The exhibition provided the first opportunity for the local community to view various photomontages of the turbines set against the local landscape. Attendees also had the chance to once again meet and question the Broadview Energy team about the results of the various environmental and technical studies conducted for the site. Additionally, the residents had the opportunity to hear more about how a proposed Community Benefit Fund from the wind farm would be used in the local area.
Olly Buck, Project Manager for Broadview Energy said: “After undertaking a lot of detailed work to investigate the suitability of the Starbold site, the exhibition provided a good opportunity to discuss the results of the various studies we have carried out. Also, it has given us the chance to show local people what the site will look like, and importantly answer any questions they might have.”
As part of its work to assure people about the wind farm proposal, Broadview Energy will once again be arranging a visit to an operational wind farm (at Burton Wold in Northamptonshire) for interested residents to see wind power in action. A leaflet containing the details of the Starbold wind farm and a freepost feedback form was posted to 3,900 homes in the immediate area, providing local people with the opportunity to register their views on the project. The newsletter and feedback form are available from the project website (www.starboldwindfarm.co.uk).
Should the Starbold wind farm be granted planning permission, it is hoped that it could enter operation in 2011, generating clean energy and potentially injecting £30,000 per annum into the local community.
Broadview will now be finalising its plans with the aim of submitting a planning application to Stratford on Avon District Council during September. The application will be open for public consultation as per standard planning guidelines before a decision is made by the Council. For media enquiries, please contact:
