Starbold
A planning application for the proposed Starbold wind farm has now been submitted to Stratford-on-Avon District Council. The proposal is for a wind farm consisting of five wind turbines and associated infrastructure located on agricultural land close to Junction 12 of the M40, between the villages of Knightcote and Bishop’s Itchington in Warwickshire.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council will now undertake a wide ranging consultation exercise with a number of organisations as well as local residents before making a decision on the proposal.
If approved, the scheme could be constructed and operational within 12 months and generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 4,788 households in the region. It would also lead to the displacement of electricity and associated carbon emissions generated by fossil fuelled power stations. In addition, should the wind farm be constructed, a community fund would be set up, equivalent to £2,500 per MW of installed capacity per annum.
