< Back to all project news 29 Jun 2010 - Spring Farm Ridge Broadview to share wind farm plans with local residents at Helmdon
Helmdon Primary School, near Brackley, will be the venue of Broadview Energy's second exhibition of its plans for a small wind farm on land approximately ten miles east of Banbury, near the B4525 between the villages of Greatworth, Helmdon and Sulgrave. The exhibition will take place on Tuesday July 13th between 4.00pm and 8.00pm.
People attending the exhibition will have the opportunity to see the proposed location and height of the turbines and photomontages of the turbines set against the local landscape from various viewpoints in the surrounding area. They will also have the opportunity to once again meet members of the Broadview Energy team and to review the results of the various environmental and technical studies that have now been completed.
As a result of these studies, and in particular the feedback that Broadview has received to its original proposals announced earlier this year, the company has chosen to reduce the number of turbines on the site (known as Spring Farm Ridge) from six to five.
Olly Buck, Project Manager for Broadview Energy, said: “Our various studies, and, consultation with local representatives and national agencies, have confirmed that Spring Farm Ridge is a suitable site for a wind farm. However, before we submit a planning application to South Northamptonshire District Council we want to share our plans once again with local people and talk again about the many advantages of wind power. We hope to submit a planning application this summer which in turn will be open for further consultation as part of the standard local planning process.”
Before the application is submitted Broadview Energy will once again be arranging a visit to an operational wind farm (at Burton Wold, near Kettering, Northamptonshire) for interested residents so that they have the opportunity to see wind power in action.
A leaflet, outlining the details of the Spring Farm Ridge wind farm and the exhibition on July 13th, has been posted to more than 7,500 homes in the immediate area. The leaflet includes a freepost feedback form for people to register their views.
Broadview Energy released details of its plans to investigate the Spring Farm Ridge site as a possible location of a wind farm in March 2010 and in the same month the company hosted a public exhibition at Marston St Lawrence Village Hall.
Subject to planning and financing, the wind farm would enter operation in late 2011 or early 2012. It would generate clean energy for homes in the region and potentially inject up to £30,000 per annum into local community projects for the lifetime of the wind farm. This money, a Community Benefit Fund based on the generating capacity of the wind farm, would be administered locally.
