< Back to all project news 14 Jul 2011 - Spring Farm Ridge Broadview disappointed with refusal of Spring Farm Ridge wind farm
Broadview Energy has reacted with disappointment at the decision of the South Northamptonshire Council planning committee to reject plans for a five turbine wind farm located on agricultural land between the villages of Helmdon, Greatworth and Sulgrave.
The decision followed a recommendation by the Council’s planning department to refuse the application despite Broadview submitting a planning application that was accompanied by a thorough and robust environmental statement which demonstrated that Spring Farm Ridge was a suitable site for a small wind farm. Broadview will now consider the reasons for refusal in detail and weigh up its options accordingly.
The Council received 270 letters of support for the application which, if allowed, would generate enough renewable electricity to meet the needs of 5,580 households in the region and, in doing so, would make a valuable contribution toward Government targets for increasing renewable energy supply, tackling climate change and improving the UK’s energy security.
Olly Buck, of Broadview, said: “We continue to firmly believe that the site is an appropriate location for a wind farm of this nature, and that it was well designed and compliant with local and national planning objectives. “
