< Back to all project news 17 Sep 2009 - Seamer Hambleton Council's decision to object
In response to today’s decision by Hambleton Council’s Planning Committee against the Seamer wind farm proposal (by 7 votes to 5), Jeffrey Corrigan, Managing Director of Broadview Energy, said: “We are obviously very disappointed that the Council has chosen to refuse our application. We will carefully consider the reasons given by the Committee in light of Stockton Council’s approval of the turbines that are located within their area of responsibility back in July, and thereafter the decision by Secretary of State not to “call-in” the application as he found no justification in doing so. We will be considering the options open to us after Hambleton Council’s decision.”
The proposed Seamer wind farm application consists of five wind turbines that would have the capacity to generate electricity for several thousand homes in the region. The site straddles the boundaries of Hambleton and Stockton Councils: two turbines in Hambleton and three in Stockton.
