Broadview Energy continues to await the Public Inquiry into its planning application for its four turbine wind farm located on farm land between the villages of Gilmorton, Ashby Magna and Dunton Bassett.

The Public Inquiry, prompted by Harborough District Council’s non-determination of the application within the specified 13 week period, will be held by a Planning Inspector within the next 3-4 months. The Planning Inspector’s decision on the application should be available some four to 4-6 weeks after the Public Inquiry is held.

On Tuesday, September 8th, some 30 weeks after submission and as part of the pre inquiry process, Harborough Council’s planning committee considered the Council’s position in relation to the wind farm proposal. The Committee decided, that had the decision rested with them, they would have rejected the application on the grounds that Broadview’s planning application did not include sufficient information.

Jeffrey Corrigan, Managing Director of Broadview Energy, said: “We continue to look ahead to the Public Inquiry to determine the application later this year. I’m disappointed that we have had to pursue an appeal but the Council had not determined the application within the expected time period. We have abided by the local, regional and national planning guidelines and submitted the findings of extensive studies of the wind farm’s potential impacts. The nature and scope of these studies, including the noise assessments, were conducted in agreement with Harborough Council, Natural England and the other relevant statutory bodies.”

The proposed site, if approved and built, will provide clean renewable electricity for several thousand homes.
