Broadview is pleased to announce that the Low Spinney wind farm will soon be generating clean, sustainable energy.  The wind farm is situated on working farm land between the villages of Ashby Magna, Gilmorton and Dunton Bassett, near Lutterworth in Leicestershire.

The wind farm went into construction towards the end of last year, but has suffered delays in its electrical connection caused by Western Power Distribution (formerly Central Networks). The final connection will be made by 26th September 2011 and local residents should expect to see wind turbines turning for the first time in Leicestershire.

Following connection, the wind farm will go through a few weeks of testing, during which time there will be occasions when individual turbines may be switched off.

During the summer term, children from two local schools entered a competition to name the turbines. The winning children will be involved in a cut the ribbon ceremony as part of a community open day planned for early October.  

The wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the average annual electricity demands of 5,000 households in the region.
