Broadview is pleased to announce that it will be holding an open day at its newly constructed Low Spinney wind farm on Friday 7th October 2011 between 1:00pm and 6:00pm.
The open day will give members of the public their first opportunity to see the wind farm in operation and will mark the launch of the ‘Low Spinney Community Fund’. The fund will provide a total of £16,000 per annum for community based projects and will be managed on behalf of the community by the three local Parish Councils of Ashby Magna, Dunton Bassett and Gilmorton.
Children from both Gilmorton Chandler C of E Primary School and Dunton Bassett Primary School recently entered a competition to name each of the four new turbines. The winning children will officially open the wind farm at 1:00pm by unveiling the new turbine names.
The site will then be open to the public for the remainder of the afternoon, where further information about the site will be on display. Members of the Broadview team will also be available to answer questions from the public.
Lisa Ross, Broadview’s Community Relations Manager, said: “The wind farm attracted so much local interest during construction, with frequent requests to visit the site, we felt an open day would be most appropriate. We look forward to welcoming members of the public to Leicestershire’s first operational wind farm.”
The wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the average annual demands of 5,000 households within the region.
