< Back to all project news 25 Oct 2010 - Low Spinney Construction commences for the Low Spinney wind farm
Broadview is pleased to announce that the initial site preparation has commenced for the construction of the Low Spinney wind farm situated on working farm land between the villages of Ashby Magna, Gilmorton and Dunton Bassett, near Lutterworth in Leicestershire.
The construction work is being undertaken by Raymond Brown Construction Ltd. This work includes site preparation and the construction of the access tracks and turbine foundations for the four wind turbines, as well as building the electrical substation. After a competitive tendering exercise, Broadview has appointed REpower AG as its wind turbine supplier for this site. Their 2MW wind turbines are expected to be delivered and erected in spring 2011, with the site fully operational by mid-summer.
When operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the average annual electricity demands of 5,000 households in the region.
