Broadview

Communities

Broadview prides itself on undertaking a thorough, open and transparent approach to community engagement as it is important to work closely with all interested parties likely to be affected by the development of a wind farm.  On all of our sites we aim to build strong relationships with local communities from an early stage in the development process, and then maintain these throughout the lifetime of the project.

In order to achieve the above aims, we adopt a variety of communication methods to ensure the community and all other interested stakeholders are kept fully informed about the project.  These include:

  • Conducting public consultation, 'drop-in', events to outline our proposals and to allow people to provide input into the development process;
  • Conducting face to face meetings throughout the project life cycle with all stakeholders, for example, Parish Councils, the Local Planning Authority and local communities;
  • Distributing project newsletters to keep the local community updated on the progress of the proposals and upcoming events;
  • Establishing a dedicated website to ensure all details of the project including documentation, news and events are widely available;
  • Providing opportunities to visit operational wind farms to allow people to gain first hand experience of how wind farms operate and their impacts; and
  • Working closely with local media outlets such as newspapers, TV & radio stations.

In addition to the above activities, Broadview typically proposes to make an annual contribution of £2,000 per MW of installed capacity to a community benefit fund.  We believe that this fund should be allocated according to the wishes of the community and be used to improve local facilities, assist existing community groups, improve energy efficiency or implement micro renewable generation schemes.
